Accessibility Statement

Introduction
I'm committed to making Mayday Yoga's website and services accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. Access to trauma-informed wellness support shouldn't depend on ability. This statement describes the accessibility features of this website and my ongoing efforts to improve access for all visitors.

1. My Commitment to Accessibility
I aim to provide a website that's easy to navigate regardless of ability, content that works with assistive technology, and services that can flex to different needs. This is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix, and I welcome feedback that helps me improve.

2. Accessibility Standards
This website is built on Wix and works toward general web accessibility best practices, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at a Level AA standard where possible. I rely in part on Wix's built-in accessibility tools, since I don't have a dedicated development or accessibility testing team. In practice, this means working toward content that's usable with a keyboard alone, reasonable color contrast, text that can be resized without breaking the layout, and alt text on meaningful images.

3. Accessible Features of This Website

  • Clear, consistent navigation across pages

  • Descriptive link text rather than vague prompts like "click here"

  • Plain, jargon-free language

  • Content broken into headings and short paragraphs for easy scanning

  • Alt text provided for meaningful images

4. Known Limitations
I'm a solo practitioner running this site through Wix, so there are real limits to what I can guarantee. Some third-party tools I use, Calendly for scheduling and Zoom for virtual sessions, are outside my direct control, though I choose vendors that take accessibility seriously. Older content or documents may not fully meet current standards. If anything on the site is hard to access, please reach out and I'll do my best to find another way to get you what you need, whether that's a different file format, a phone conversation instead of a form, or something else that works for you.

5. Alternative Formats
If you need something in a different format, plain text, a phone conversation instead of email, or a document read aloud, let me know and I'll do what I can to accommodate.
To request an alternative format, contact:
Email: marie@mnyoga.org

6. Accessibility in My Practice
Mayday Yoga doesn't operate out of one fixed office. Sessions happen in a range of settings across the Twin Cities region, hospitals, community centers, conference rooms, retreats, and outdoors, as well as virtually over Zoom. Because locations vary by engagement, accessibility at an in-person session depends on the site itself. If you have accessibility needs, whether related to mobility, sensory input, communication, or anything else, let me know when we're scheduling and I'll do what I can to accommodate or help find a location that works.

TCTSY sessions themselves are already built around choice. Nothing is required to look a certain way. Participants can sit, stand, rest, or modify however works for their body, and no mat is required.

For virtual sessions, I'm happy to talk through what would help before we meet, whether that's extra time, a different communication method, or anything else.

7. Feedback and Contact
If you run into an accessibility barrier on this website or with my services, or if you have suggestions, I want to hear about it. Contact me at marie@mnyoga.org with a description of the issue and, if you're comfortable sharing it, what device or assistive technology you were using. I'll get back to you within a few business days.

8. Updates to This Statement
I'll revisit this statement as the website changes or as I learn more about how to make Mayday Yoga more accessible. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent review.

Accessibility is part of what trauma-informed work is supposed to mean, meeting people where they are, without requiring them to perform or conform to one way of participating. I appreciate you letting me know if something isn't working, so I can do better.
